There are two types of cookies:
(1) A temporary cookie which is removed when the browser is shut down
(2) A permanent cookie which is saved to the cookie file when the browser is shut down.

If you never shut down your browser (and the time on the temp cookie is long enough, or the format is messed up) a temporary cookie will look like a permanent cookie.

The way to make a temporary cookie is to either:
(1) Make the expiration date/time short.
(2) Mess up the expiration date format so it doesn't make sense to the browser. This is a really neat trick! the browser can not read the messed up format so it won't delete the cookie while the browser is running, BUT once you shut the browser down, again the format is not recognized and the cookie won't be saved!

Here's what I get if I just use the same topic numbers, but put the new location of topics:

... but I don't think that any of those go to the right topics (and a search on the first title only lead back here)

Tracking cookies are small files that web sites use to track where you go on the internet. They're generally harmless, but you should still probably rid yourself of them regularly if you're concerned about the privacy issue.

If you're using Internet Explorer, you can set your cookie preferences under
Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy (tab)->delete cookies
